Artbox / Faster. Higher. Stronger.
Located near a public sports facility the artwork by artist Damian Vick aims to incite the visitor to push themselves to their personal best. The work represents the pursuit of excellence as a community and breaking mental barriers that holds us back were common themes in the brief. The artwork was commissioned by City of Casey for the Barton Reserve sporting precinct in Cranbourne West.
The artwork depicts three steel figures impacting upon and shattering three seven-metre-high steel pillars. Each of the figures is enacting a non-specific sporting action such as running or jumping, with each pillar weighing more than 1.4 tonnes.
