Illuminate Eltham

Illuminate Eltham

Explore Eltham Town Centre as we light up the night with light based installations from local artists. Commencing on Friday 12 August for six weeks there will be an ongoing program of free activities.

Eltham Lantern Trail

In collaboration with arts collective the Indirect Object, Artbox invited artists to submit invited new or existing artwork and designs for the Eltham Lantern Trail.
Nillumbik has a rich heritage, with its Wurundjeri-willam history, prolific creative community, and its enduring status as a fertile green wedge displaying an abundance of flora and fauna. These lanterns emanate from the artists' personal connection to this heritage, and their cultural reflection on the local environment. Tapping into both ancient art forms and old-world production methods, the artist designs are adapted into unique shadow lanterns.
Featured artists have varied practices working with textiles, glass, painting, illustration, woodcutting, metalwork and multidisciplinary forms. Tapping into ancient art forms and old-world production methods, their designs are adapted into unique Shadow Lanterns.
